William M. Blumthal
Bill joined Johnson & Krol in 2018 as an Associate Attorney.
Bill's practice focuses on ERISA litigation and labor litigation. Drawing on his prior experience as a prosecutor, Bill represents J&K's Taft-Hartley clients in lawsuits involving the collection of unpaid contributions, including alter ego, single employer, and successor liability claims. He also represents the firm's pension fund clients in litigation involving withdrawal liability assessments. In addition to ERISA litigation, Bill represents J&K's clients in arbitrations involving rights under collective bargaining agreements and obligations pursuant to scholarship loan agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Bill served as Deputy Director of Investigations and Chief Regulatory Prosecutor at the Illinois Department of Insurance. While there, he oversaw criminal and regulatory investigations; worked with federal, state, and local prosecutors; and oversaw the prosecution of administrative hearings.
Bill also served as an Assistant State's Attorney for Cook County, Illinois from 2003-2011, where he served in a number of different divisions, prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases, including numerous jury trials, and argued before the Illinois Appellate Court.
