William joined Johnson & Krol in 2007 and oversees the Labor Practice where he represents J&K’s union clients in all aspects of collective bargaining, labor arbitration, grievance resolution, union organizing campaigns and unfair labor practice charges. William has represented J&K’s labor clients throughout the Midwest in both state and federal court as well as with the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights and Department of Labor. William is counsel to several statewide labor associations.
William also has extensive litigation experience with ERISA, trust fund collection, withdrawal liability, benefit denials, and trust fund insurance issues. In addition to his litigation experience, he represents clients in DOL audits, attends trustee meetings, prepares and reviews organizational documents and drafts and files for IRS favorable tax status determination letters. William also advises the firm’s labor and ERISA clients in regards to EEOC compliance, fiduciary/directors and officer’s liability insurance and investment related matters.
William provides advice and counsel to seven multi-employer apprenticeship programs advising JATCs and trustees as to the design, implementation and operation of the apprenticeship program, including the drafting or revising of Apprenticeship Standards, Apprentice Selection Procedures and Affirmative Action Plans for approval by the Department of Labor. William also works with apprenticeship funds to create, utilize and collect on Scholarship Loan Agreements and advises on ongoing apprenticeship compliance issues.
